Hello! I'm Dave Sebastian. I go by Dave, but never David.
I'm a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, where I cover breaking business news and the hospitality and tourism industry. That includes breaking exclusive news about travel-related companies, challenges faced by cruise operators and crew members amid the Covid-19 pandemic and profiles that chronicle the intersection of business and economic policies.
I graduated in May 2019 from Boston University, where I double-majored in journalism and economics and minored in business administration. I'm also taking courses in data analytics.
I found my passion for journalism in middle school, where I covered my native Jakarta, Indonesia, for my school paper.
In summer 2018, I wrote about international trade for Bloomberg Law, covering the Trump's administration tariff actions, NAFTA and U.S.-China trade. I've interned at The Conversation, WBUR, and Voice of America, and I've also served as the associate city news editor of The Daily Free Press, Boston University’s student newspaper.
Whenever I arrive in a new city, I discover the best views through a good run — my favorite running spots include the Charles River Esplanade in Boston and Rock Creek Trail in D.C. A dim sum brunch will keep me happy no matter what.
